Encouraging Words Toastmasters is a Toastmasters International club that meets Thursdays from 7pm-8pm at the Canterbury Inn library room in Longview, Washington.
Toastmasters is a non-profit organization that helps people grow speaking and leadership skills.
You can:
- Learn to communicate more effectively
- Become a better listener
- Improve your presentation skills
- Increase your leadership potential
- Become more successful in your career
Weekly Toastmaster meetings consist of 3 parts:
1. Prepared speeches (club members volunteer to give)
2. Evaluations (listen on positive feedback and suggestions a volunteer evaluator offers)
3. 1-2 minute mini speeches. These are unprepared, off-the-cuff comments and thoughts volunteers are invited to share. The club calls this 'table topics'.
The meeting is conducted by volunteers and is not taught by an instructor. It is a warm, supportive community that aims to support and motivate each other as members grow communication and leadership skills.
