Longview, WA, — The Encouraging Words Toastmasters Club of Longview is offering a free workshop, “How to get a job in this economy”. This special event will be held at the Canterbury Inn, 3rd and Hudson Street in Longview on July 9th and July 16th, 2009 from 7pm-8:30pm.

The first session on July 9th will offer tips designed to help job seekers be more competitive.  Topics will include how to make a great first impression, interviewing strategies, and resume tips. Guest speakers representing employment services will be present.

Mock Interviews will be offered for the second session on July 16th. “This session offers the job seekers in the public a safe place to practice, while receiving valuable feedback,” said Bob Williams, Vice President of Encouraging Words Toastmasters. The interviewers will be various professionals from the community.  Vernae Christopherson, branch director of Cardinal Services, a local employment agency will present suggestions on resume building. Job seekers wishing to participate are encouraged to contact the club and RVSP prior to July 9th to get a space for the mock interview session.

The Encouraging Words Toastmasters Club wishes to assist the community in obtaining valuable communication and leadership skills needed for employment. The group is a local chapter of Toastmasters International. It is for individuals 18 years of age and older and is a program for developing communication and leadership skills.  Weekly meetings are held every Thursday, 7:00 pm at the Canterbury Inn in Longview.
