Resume Building Workshop and Mock Interview Session

Longview, WA — The Encouraging Words Toastmasters Club of Longview is offering a free workshop, “How to get a job in this economy”. This special event will be held at the Canterbury Inn, 3rd and Hudson Street in Longview on July 9th and July 16th, from 7pm-8:30pm.

The first session on July 9th will offer tips designed to help job seekers be more competitive. Topics will include how to make a great first impression, interviewing strategies, and resume tips. Guest speakers representing employment services will be present.

What to Expect

Weekly Toastmaster meetings consist of 3 parts:

1. Prepared speeches (club members volunteer to give)
2. Evaluations (listen on positive feedback and suggestions a volunteer evaluator offers)
3. 1-2 minute mini speeches. These are unprepared, off-the-cuff comments and thoughts volunteers are invited to share. The club calls this 'table topics'.

The meeting is conducted by volunteers and is not taught by an instructor. It is a warm, supportive community that aims to support and motivate each other as members grow communication and leadership skills.
